Towel Amnesty Program: I've been spending a lot of time in hotels these days and while I occasionally cast a longing eye at a plush bathrobe worth stuffing into my suitcase, I've resisted the urge. I've never given a minute's thought to making off with a towel. Apparently, many people have -- pilfering hundreds of thousands of towels last year.
A colleague sent around an article from the Baltimore Sun that describes Holiday Inn's "thinly veiled marketing campaign." They're calling it "Towel Amnesty Day." They don't want their towels back but they do want sticky-fingered former guests to tell them why they absconded with the loot in the first place. (via Baltimore Sun)
Hundreds of thousands of towels were "liberated" from hotels last year? That's a lot of terry cloth.
